about
This song was sparked from my girlfriend mentioning smelling the perfume of a love one that passed away. It started as a song for someone that died, and sort of morphed into a song about a relationship, but sometimes I almost feel like it's me singing to myself and wishing I could get back to being the person I was when I was younger. However you interpret it for yourself is fine with me!
lyrics
I smell your perfume still in the house
Lingering here after you wandered out
I still hear your voice calling my name
And I'm saying sorry to this empty space
Is it ironic that I miss you now
After the words that came out of my mouth?
We were a goner
We'd never work out
I guess I just hoped maybe you'd come around
The places that we could go
Life could be beautiful
A face that I used to know
Gone and forgotten
But I still have hope you'll come home
You took it all too literal
I wish you were forgettable
In every song I still hear you calling
The places that we could go
Life could be beautiful
A face that I used to know
Gone and forgotten
But I still have hope you'll come home
I've been a wreck for days
If I change would you stay
A place that you used to go
Gone and forgotten
But I still have hope you'll come home
(Come back, Come back)
Open the door and I'll bite off my tongue
I know I'm a lot and it stopped being fun
I never thought we'd be burning our throne
As we shed off our skin and our blood and our bones
The places that we could go
Life could be beautiful
A face that I used to know
Gone and forgotten
But I still have hope you'll come home
I've been a wreck for days
If I change would you stay
A place that you used to go
Gone and forgotten
But I still have hope you'll come home
